Post MCKC: Week 1

Hello MCKC!!!!!

So, this is pretty new for mckc… having a blog. We will be adding a blog a week for at least the next few months, so please check back at least once a week!!!!
With that said, we will be taking each number from the post retreat strategy and expanding upon it, giving you tips, and hopefully giving some good resources.

So, the first strategy that was on the list was:

1) READ a passage of the Bible a day: Hold onto the Truth!

       • How do you stay in the Truth? KNOW the Truth. How do you get to know the truth? Read it.

       • BUT, don’t try to read from Genesis to Revelations. Don’t torture yourself. Try the easier books first!

So, this strategy is so important because the bible is where we get our TRUTH from. For starters, you don’t HAVE to read from the same book everyday. Move around in the bible!!! If there’s a book that’s more interesting to you, read that one first. There’s no rule that says “THOU MUST READ FROM GENESIS.” That’s silly.

Personally for me, a chunk of the bible that’s easier to read are Paul’s epistles. Paul’s letters. Basically: Romans, 1,2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1,2 Thessalonians, 1,2 Timothy…. basically the second half of the New Testament.

I don’t know how much you all enjoyed the devotionals from camp, but I got all the devotionals off a website. If you like the stories and some structure to your bible reading or quiet time, here’s the website:

http://www.josh.org/resources/daily-devotional/

It looks like they put up devotionals everyday. So, you can do their devotionals everyday!! 🙂

Here’s another website you could use to do devotionals:

This website is little bit more interactive. This is also something you could do everyday as well!!!! 🙂

Ok folks, I hope that this helps you!!! One word of advice, I think that doing devotionals in a quiet place would be good. If you have other stuff going on in the room that you’re spending time with God, all the other stuff are distractions and you won’t be able to spend quality time with God!!! 🙂

If you have any questions, please comment and ask!!! I will try to the best of my ability to answer them !!!! 🙂
